Mikel Azcona eighth on the grid in the World Touring Car Championship at MotorLand Aragón

Mikel Azcona, current leader of the World Touring Car Cup, has to make a great comeback in order to continue leading the WTCR Championship. The Biscay native starts from eighth position on the starting grid for the Race of Spain at MotorLand Aragón, as his best lap today (02'06.227) was not among the top five in Q2. His Hyundai teammate, Norbert Michelisz, did not beat him by a single hundredth and qualified in ninth place.

Afternoon with fans at Motorland Aragón

Great atmosphere this afternoon at the Pit Walk of the Motorland Aragon circuit, a walk through the boxes, which the fans appreciated very much. They also got the opportunity to get the signatures and some selfies with their favorite drivers. This was done the day prior to the WTCR, GT-CER and Speed Trophy’s Free Practice and Qualifying.

This Friday the Pit Lane was open to the public so that fans could meet their favorite drivers and see the spectacular cars with which they will race during the weekend up close.

The first races of the weekend kicked off

Jonathan Rea leads the Pirelli Aragón Round WorldSBK free practice by three tenths of a second at MotorLand

All the wait was worth it. Two years later, motorcycling fans from around the world have returned today to enjoy the speed at MotorLand Aragon thanks to the Motul FIM Superbikes 2022 World Championship. A day full of adrenaline, sun and temperatures of 21 ºC that will stay throughout the weekend.

Everything is ready at Motorland Aragón for the start of the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship 2022 this weekend.

The Motul FIM Superbike World Championship finally starts at the MotorLand Aragón circuit. After the tests of the last days, tomorrow, Friday, the free practice begins for the riders on the circuit of Alcañiz and there is a close gap between the riders in the top. The three fastest riders, Jonathan Rea, Toprak Razgatlioglu and Álvaro Bautista, are separated by only 4 tenths of a second (0.380) and will fight to be the fastest on the track.

Motorland Aragon puts the first tickets for the World Superbike Championship up on sale.

The season begins and for the second consecutive year, the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) chooses the Aragon Circuit to host its first Round of the World Superbike Championship in 2022. Motorland has been hosting this important world championship for twelve consecutive years, which celebrates its 35th edition since it started in 1988.

One month to go until the World Superbike Show starts in Spain.

The season will start in Spain, for the second consecutive year, in the Aragonese circuit.

The Motul FIM Superbike World Championship 2022 will hold twelve rounds, confirmed thus far, the first of them being held in Aragón. The World Championship will travel the European continent until October, when it will make the jump to Argentina, then Indonesia and finally Australia.

Motorland is working to have everything ready, next April, when the first race of the season arrives to Aragon.

 

MotorLand Aragón gets ready to welcome the Superbike World Championship

After two years without the public, the MotorLand Aragon circuit is getting ready to welcome back the fans with the first World Superbike race from the season, from April 8 to 10. Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlioglu will be looking to get off to a good start and defend his world championship title against Alvaro Bautista, who has the second fastest time of the pre-season tests, or six-time champion Jonathan Rea.

Bautista, Lecuona and Huertas enjoy the affection of the Aragonese fans before the start of the Superbike World Championship.
